Food and Literature: Fictitious Dishes

Have you seen artist and photographer Dinah Fried's series "Fictitous Dishes"? She brilliantly captures memorable meals depicted in famous novels, including The Catcher in the Rye, Oliver Twist, and Moby Dick.

From top to bottom: Oliver Twist, Catcher in the Rye, Moby Dick. I think my favorite is Moby Dick, with the chowder and the seashell.

Wouldn't these make terrific office (or kitchen) art? What would you add to the series? I'd love to see the blanc-mange, pickled limes, and Christmas table from Little Women, one of Haruki Murakami's famous spaghetti dinners, or Proust and his madelines.
